Irani steps down as PIE Center director

Tracy Irani.  Director of the UF/IFAS Center for Public Issues Education.Tracy Irani, who played a major role in establishing the PIE Center since 2008, will leave her role as director to become chairperson of the Department of Family, Youth and Community Sciences.

Irani served as interim chairwoman for the department since October and will permanently take over the position effective April 11. Continue reading.

PIE Center launches critical thinking assessment program

New outreach program serves up ‘The Slice’ on social media

As the Life of PIE weeklong social media event nears an end, the PIE Center is launching a new outreach program tomorrow geared toward helping people take advantage of social media themselves.

The Slice, a 10-minute video, aims to provide practical tips, guidelines and suggestions that can be immediately put to work, according to Outreach & Training Coordinator Nicole Dodds, who loosely modeled the program around the popular TED Talks. Continue reading.
