PIE Center welcomes education, outreach coordinator

PIE Center grows across state lines

With its first multi-state project, the PIE Center demonstrates that the need for research and education in agriculture and natural resources doesn’t stop at the Florida-Georgia border.

Graduate student spotlight: Joy Goodwin

Hometown: Mt. Gilead, Ohio. It’s a rural area about 45 minutes north of Columbus. My family lives on a 2,000-plus acre grain farm. I raised a variety of livestock growing up and graduated high school with only 92 classmates.

PIE Center receives $150,000 to promote, examine ‘local’ produce

The PIE Center will receive more than $150,000 to conduct a two-year research project that will help improve the way Florida-grown produce is marketed.
In partnership with the Florida Specialty Crop Foundation and the Food and Resource Economics (FRE) Department, the project was one of 23 proposals selected by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Sciences (FDACS) to receive a Specialty Crop Block Grant from the USDA.
