Southern Group of State Foresters — Communications Audit & Content Analysis

In the PIE Center’s first regional project, researchers will analyze communication materials and strategic plans for 13 southern states, as well as Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services — Gulf Safe Message Testing Focus Groups and Communications Audit

Related to FDACS’ Gulf Safe campaign promoting Florida seafood, the PIE Center will assess consumer perceptions and test potential message strategies. The research should enable FDACS to focus more directly on a specific target audience to increase the purchase and consumption of Florida seafood.

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services — 2011 Specialty Crop Block Grant Focus Groups & Economic Impact Survey

Recent research has shown that Florida consumers respond positive to a “locally grown” message but are not able to define what it means geographically. This two-year project aims to:

  • Measure the economic impact of the state’s specialty crop fresh produce industry
  • Identify branding messages that appeal to consumers
  • Enhance use of the MarketMaker online networking platform
  • Provide strategic recommendations outlining messages that should be used in order to brand Florida-grown fresh produce as a “local” choice.

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services — 2012 Specialty Crop Block Grant

The PIE Center is currently crafting proposals for the newest round of Specialty Crop Block Grants. These projects will continue to expand on previous work to enhance the competitiveness of Florida specialty crops.


Consumer Trend Panels

In collaboration with the Wedgworth Leadership Institute and National Public Policy Evaluation Center, the PIE Center will compare the views of consumers and agricultural opinion leaders with respect to legislative and political issues.

Suwannee River Partnership — BMPs Survey

Results from this survey explore stakeholders’ best management practices in protecting and conserving the water resources within the Suwannee River Water Management District.
