A survey is a way to collect information about a set of people. The PIE Center will develop a questionnaire to suit the needs of a client and distribute it through Qualtrics, a state-of-the-art online surveying tool. Both quantitative and qualitative questions can be used in a web-based survey. The PIE Center then analyzes the results and provides recommendation based on the purpose of the survey.

Focus groups

Focus groups are a form of qualitative research in which a targeted group of people are asked about their perceptions, opinions, beliefs and/or attitudes toward a message, brand, service or concept in an interactive group setting. The groups are recorded, transcribed and analyzed by the PIE Center, which provides recommendations based on the results.

Content analyses

A content analysis is a research method that analyzes the content of different media, such as websites, newspapers, video and more. When examining the content, researchers typically look for the coverage of certain topics, common wording and the occurrence of other media, such as photographs. Following the analysis, PIE Center researchers compile the results and make conclusions about the content of the media being analyzed.

Communication audits

To conduct a communication audit, the PIE Center requests a representative sampling of materials used by an organization to communicate with internal and external audiences. These materials are reviewed and analyzed for consistency, usability, messaging strategies and effectiveness. Afterward, general and specific recommendations are developed to address communication strengths and weaknesses of the organization.
